President Trump’s Executive Order puts hold on FAA drone regulations

President Trump signed an executive order last week requiring a roll back of regulations. In essence, for every one new regulation passed two old regulations must be removed. This order has had an unexpected side effect on the FAA’s existing plans for rolling out new drone regulations.  This spells potential problems for the budding drone industry.

In 2014, the NTS board officially classified drones as aircraft. This forced drones and other quadcopters of specific size to be required to abide by FAA regulations in order to fly.  Unfortunately, FAA regulations were not really designed for drone use and as such, the president’s new order has placed a growing industry on hold as regulators scramble to figure out what to do.
